5 weeks in Amsterdam + moving to Milan on Sunday

June 5, 2025

I've been in Amsterdam for 5 weeks now living with a friend of a friend. A few thoughts on Amsterdam: - Most walkable city I've ever been to - Dutch poeple are chill af (and tall af) - Could totally live here, but the living situation is too expensive. They have the worst housing crisis I have seen - Dutch food is fine.

On Sunday, I move to Milan. Shortly after arriving I'll be heading to Dublin to meet some friends for a bachelor party. It'll be fun to catch up with folks from home and get my head out of work for a bit. In Milan, I'll be taking intensive Italian lessons Monday to Friday which should be pretty stimulating. Looking forward to that.

I finished an 8 week contract with Dogchild, and will be working part time with them going forward. Also spent a lot of time working on a new feature for Celiapp, "Guides". Still some learning curves around security and working with a team of developers. I think we all have different styles. Being a small team makes you want to work fast and pump out code, but without being the one in control of the codebase, you still have to fall in line and be careful with your changes. So it's a bit of a balance, and important not to get too attached to your code, or show too much frustration.

I'm still obsessed with how fast you can deploy new projects with cursor, and trying to think of how to capitalize on that. If there's one thing to take away from the recent changes in the dev scene, ie. vibe coding, and the sudden massive lack of development jobs compared to a few years ago, it's that the value of a business is even more now on the ability to market your product, which really comes down to understanding people, and unfortunately, having capital to start with.

That's all for now!
